Madonna Cancels Australian Tour

A disappointing news for the Australian fans of singer Madonna. The singer’s promoter Live Nation Australia has confirmed that the Queen of Pop will not be heading Down Under. According to reports, Madonna has canceled her performance plans in Australia as part of the MDNA World Tour. There has been no further comment about the cancellation and also no statement released from Madonna’s camp.

Earlier this year, the singer’s manager Guy Oseary said that Madonna really needs to go to Australia. “We are long overdue for a trip Down Under and apologise for that. It will happen,'' Oseary said. Madonna’s last performance in Australia was in 1993 with her “Girlie Show.”

Meanwhile, Live Nation is ruling out extra dates with Madonna’s MDNA World Tour. "Madonna's tour will end in South America in December as planned. That's all we can say," a spokesperson said. Also, Madonna was due in confirming summer dates earlier this month. However, the announcement was delayed until after the Olympics. According to the Herald Sun, Madonna’s promoter already booked out stadiums in Melbourne and Sydney for the upcoming shows next year even though exact dates for an Australian tour had not been announced yet.

The 53-year old Madonna is currently on her European tour and some of her shows did not fail to meet the expectations of a controversy and criticism. It has been reported that she famously flashed her nipple while performing in Istanbul with mostly Islamic audience watching. In Paris, her display of the Nazi swastika also became controversial. Critics has claimed that Madonna’s ticket prices are way too expensive despite several of her concerts on her world tour of 87 dates is making a record for basically selling out.

Madonna offered a word of advice to those who were quibbling over her world tour’s ticket price. "People spend $300 on crazy things all the time, things like handbags," she told Newsweek. "So work all year, scrape the money together and come to my show. I'm worth it," Madonna said. However, this statement no longer applies to her Australian fans. Is Madonna snubbing her Australian fans by canceling her tour?

Zac Efron Says He is No Heartthrob

Young Hollywood actor Zac Efron has humbly insisted that he is a far cry from being the heartthrob that the public claims him to be. Efron found his fame and army of female fans with his stint in Disney’s “High School Musical” films.

The young actor told the New York Daily News that he really does not see himself as a sex symbol. Efron also shared that his family and friends helped him in many ways in order to keep his feet firmly on the ground. "They know exactly who I am and I'm far from a heartthrob," said the 24-year-old Efron. "That word kind of follows you around, but I don't know how exactly one earns it," he added.

Meanwhile, Efron also revealed how he manages to keep his real and celebrity life apart. "You kind of put life into two parts of your mind. There's the Hollywood section and then there's real life. One of them is more of a show but it never overshadows real life for me. As long as you can draw a comparison between the two, one of which you know to be more important, you're good. For me, the choice is very easy. One is where I work, one is where I live," the actor revealed to the New York Daily News.

Despite his humility with these given symbolic titles of being sexy and a heartthrob, Zac Efron is still gaining recognition, mostly with female audiences, for his looks and acting abilities. Efron was named second on the People’s 2011 Most Beautiful list. For this year, Efron became busy with numerous projects, which includes his voice character as Ted Wiggins in the animated film “The Lorax” and starring in the film adaptation of Nicholas Spark’s novel “The Lucky One.” To make him even busier, Efron has also filmed his role in the upcoming independent film “The Paperboy” alongside Australian actress Nicole Kidman. With that, Zac Efron’s legion of female fans will definitely be delighted to see more of the young heartthrob actor on the big screen.
